Brandonian 138th Post Spectacular!

+++++

I went to a work party last night at the house of one CA columnist Michael Donahue.

I brought my guitar with me, figuring that if nothing else, I could screw around in the corner working on progressions or something if it became too much of an old men hanging around a barbeque thing. I came very close to bringing my camera instead of the guitar, but decided against it last second. I should have brought the camera.

Donahue’s house is a love letter to pre-Civil War architecture and creepy horror movies at the same time. The house itself actually dates to pre-Civil War times. Everything in the house looked like it came from the basement of some little old lady’s house. His foyer had a beautiful statue of three women with a creepy-looking lamp, complete with cobwebs, hanging over it.

The saddest part of the whole tour was the Steinway piano he had in one of his sitting rooms, which was terribly out of tune and had about a fifth of it’s keys not working.

Overall, the party was fun. I got to meet some cool people, learn a few more names of people from work, and best of all, actually act like a twenty-something for once. Considering I only made an ass of myself twice, I think I did alright…
