So, we meet again. Awkward…
I stopped blogging last year, mainly because I didn’t feel like I had anything worth saying. That’s not to say that I didn’t think I didn’t have stories to tell, but I wasn’t interested in letting my little corner of the web turn into a links page or a self-indulgent emofest.
I’ve had some time to pull out of the blogging scene and focus on other things. I’ve grown exponentially both professionally and personally in ways that I didn’t expect. It’s been a good break.
Unfortunately, all that time off has left me a bit weak in the writing department. I haven’t had to flex my creative juices this way in over a year, and I feel like I’ve suffered for it.
So, a couple of months ago, I sat down and rethought out what exactly I wanted to do with this site. Holding the status quo didn’t seem like the right thing to do. I thought about doing a photo blog, but that seemed a bit out of character for me.
So, if not a photo blog, then what then? Glad you asked. In this space, I plan on writing on how mass media intersects with the biggest mass medium of all, the internet. I’ll throw around buzzwords such as Hyperlocal, Web 2.0 and Reverse Publishing and pretend to know what they all mean. If you’re lucky, I might just research a topic or two. I don’t expect to write more than once a week or so, but there should be some interesting discussions (because I know everybody’s going to comment, right?) on different topics ranging from the theoretical and philosophical application of news sites, down to the nuts and bolts of how to best design interfaces and frameworks for a particular application.
In addition, I’ve got a few additional ideas for the site up my sleeve that I don’t want to spoil too early. I’d hate to let expectations get too high and spoil the surprise.
If you’re interested in the older content, I ported it over from my old blogging system into WordPress. The portfolio is down, mainly because I’m going to start doing my freelance work out of another site, Thanks For Not Suing.
So, here’s hoping for the best. Wish me luck. If you have any ideas or suggestions for topics, email me at webmaster@brandonmorrison.com or hit me up in the comments below.
