Sappy non sequitur
Today at work Eric invited a “special guest” to our afternoon meeting.
As it turns out, our guest was a scarecrow that he picked up at the grocery store. I think he named it the Scarecrow of Thankfulness. (I would have named him Larry, the scarecrow of thankfulness myself, but I digress.)
We all went around the room and talked about one thing that we were thankful for in life. For me, it’s pretty easy to get into cynicism mode and start making fun of the whole thing, but I’ve been trying hard to get away from that lately. Although it’s easier to be moody and pessimistic, there’s an idealist somewhere inside me I can’t ever seem to shake, even though i rarely feed him and say mean things about him all the time.
So what am I thankful for?
- My health - I’m always sick this time of the year, and I’m not so bad right now.
- My family - With the closest relative living 2 1/2 hours away and the majority living even further, I don’t get to see them nearly often enough.
- My friends
- Financial security
- Those little plastic things on the end of shoelaces
- FM morning radio
- The number 7
