Hello, sunny Mishawka

Random tidbits
- Last night Jessica and I went to a spelling bee at the high school across the street with our landlords Kathy and Mike. I wish I had brought my camera to show the crowd. One hundred or so people filled up a very nicely designed auditorium. The only connection any of us had to the spelling bee was that Mike teaches at the school. I felt pretty terrible for taking bets on who would win each round (but not really, mainly because there wasn’t any money involved, as far as I know…)
I’m convinced that a movie on spelling bees could be another great Christopher Guest experience.
- I tried to obtain a driver’s license today, but failed the written test by one question! After 2 previous attempts to go without proper proof of address, I can only come to the conclusion that Indiana does not want my tax money.
- I made my first long drive in the snow today after talking to some web guys in Elkhart, about 15 minutes from the house. I was actually happy that I still had Tennessee tags on my car, because everybody seemed to give me an extra 20 feet or so, which I desperately needed. It snowed about an inch during my drive back, which completely freaked me out. Fortunately, a street cleaner was driving ahead, and I could follow behind without swerving off the road too bad.
- Meta-thought: After not regularly writing in this thing for more than a year, starting back is hard. It’s not so much trouble to find time, but I can’t stand my writing style.
