Deadlines are for suckers

There’s an older episode of the Simpsons where Mr. Burns goes to the Mayo Clinic for a checkup. They tell him that not only is he not healthy, but that he has every disease known to man, aka “3 Stooges Syndrome”. The only reason he’s alive is that all the diseases are fighting to get “through the door to his body,” causing all the diseases to jam in the doorframe.

I can’t write anything that I’m really happy with tonight because there are too many things trying to get through the door of my brain at the moment. I want to write about the Google/Verizon proposal. I want to write about why I probably wasted my time with a mass letter to my Congressmen about it, even if I received staff letters back. I want to write about my upcoming trips to foreign countries, and fantasize about flying there 30 years earlier, when flying on airplanes was more of an experience than a trip on a Greyhound. I want to write about this awesome Drupal module that I found that’s going to make my work life much easier.

Unfortunately, I can’t write about any of these things without feeling guilty about not writing about the others tonight. This is what happens when you let your outlet for writing wither away for two years without any proper care or maintenance. I’m shooting for a quicker turnaround time for the next post.
